Marc Jacobs Dress (Size 8)

Description

Amazingly beautiful dress by Marc Jacobs. Light as air, it’s a sheath of lacy floral designs over a network of mesh, topped by a circling black satiny band with a front-and-center bow. The material tag has been removed, but this fabric is delicate stuff, very light. Fully lined, hook and zipper. So beautiful.

Marc Jacobs was born April 9, 1963, in New York City. He began winning awards for his designs while he was still a student at Parsons. He debuted his first eponymous collection in 1986, and a year later became the youngest designer to win the CFDA’s Perry Ellis Award for “New Fashion Talent.” In 2010, Time Magazine placed him on their list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. He was creative director at Louis Vuitton from 1997-2013, but is best known for the Marc Jacobs label. He has said that he sees fashion as entertainment, and I think this explains why there’s so much joy and creativity in his work. Andre Leon Tally was recently asked in an interview to name a current designer who he thought had an understanding of the history of fashion and was able to use it in his work, and he said, “Marc Jacobs.” www.marcjacobs.com
